Born and raised in Albuquerque  NM, Albert "Albie" Tafoya began his musical career at a very young age. He was inspired by his father who was a respected musician who shared his passion of music with his son. At age 16, Albie picked up his first guitar and within 6 months of picking up the guitar he started playing in his dad's band. In 2001 he was offered a gig to play lead guitar for an upcoming artist by the name of Gonzalo. He ended up performing with Gonzalo for the next 5 years during which he has the chance to share the stage with many talented musicians and was able to master his skills as a guitar player in the New Mexico music scene. Albie has had the distinct opportunity to share the stage with many great artists including: Al Hurricane, Roberto Griego, Tobias Rene, Ruben Ramos, Little Joe, Rick Trevino, Sunny Osuna, Ram Herrera, Flaco Jimenez, Sparx and Lorenzo Antonio along with many others. Albie enjoys playing many genres of music and his diversity has been an asset that has allowed him to adapt to different musical situations and allows him to put his own flavor in his music. You can hear Albie's guitar skills on many artists recordings throughout the southwest region. For the past year he has been a part of Severo y Grupo Fuego. With the versatility and variety of music that is incorporated in a Severo y Grupo Fuego performance, Albie has been able to add his style and sound to help the band rise to the next level.
